John turned to face Jimmy, completely ignoring Nick, which only ratcheted Nick’s anger higher. “I’m not risking my son’s life on what-ifs and maybes,” John growled. “You know I love Todd, and I wouldn’t jeopardize him for anything.” Nick couldn’t take it anymore. Nick pushed past Jimmy, grabbed John’s arm, and turned the man, forcing John to face him. Hating how his voice cracked, he said, “He’s my mate, my whole world and all I have.” Jerking away, John glared, snarling out, “Get your hands off me. Todd is my son, my flesh and blood, my family. As far as I’m concerned, you’re the reason he’s in this mess. Now be a good little slave, go to the corner, sit on your knees, and shut the fuck up.” Nick was suddenly so close to John they were practically nose to nose. Arms down, fists clenched at his hips to keep from punching John, Nick spoke in a low, dangerous voice, enunciating every word so there was no misunderstanding. “I kneel only to my master. And you are not him.” “This is getting us—” Witze began, but his words were drowned out by John’s. Drawing his arm back to strike, John snarled, “You insolent little…” Nick braced for the blow, willing to take it and ready to strike back. He met John’s angry glare with one of his own, refusing to back down. Jimmy shoved between them, forcing them each to take a step back. “John, stop being an ass!” He pointed to Nick while facing John. “Your son loves this kid, more than anything, and if you force him to choose between you and Nick? You will lose. Nick is his family.” Jimmy gave John another shove, pushing the man back farther before he turned on Nick. “And you! I asked John here to help. We need help, and he’s the only one we can trust right now, so stow it, suck it up, and deal. For your mate.” Nick grumbled, “Yes, sir.” John snorted, “Fine.”

One messy single dad. One celebrity midwife. Four feral children. A lifetime of love. Blurb This is a story about life and death, because there was never anyone else for Jens. He had been with Sofie almost all his life, from the day they met at school when they were fifteen, until the day she took her final breath against his chest. She was always everything to him. As he was to her. He never doubted that. Not for a minute. About the Author Sophia Soames should be old enough to know better but has barely grown up. She has been known to fangirl over TV shows, has fallen in and out of love with more popstars than she dares to remember, and has a ridiculously high-flying (un-)glamourous real-life job. Her long-suffering husband just laughs at her antics. Their children are feral. The dogs are too. She lives in a creaky old house in rural London, although her heart is still in her native Scandinavia. Discovering that the stories in her head make sense when written down has been part of the most hilarious midlife crisis ever, and she hopes it may long continue. Blair tried to memorize the stranger’s features without being obvious. He had sandy reddish hair—a much lighter version of Forge’s very dark mahogany—that was neatly trimmed with a stylish cut. Thanks to vampire vision, he could see the guy’s eyes were dark blue, very unlike the bright, vibrant blue of Forge’s eyes. Blair pulled a shirt off the rack and pretended to scrutinize it by holding it out toward the light from the window. The guy was taller than Blair, but not as tall as Forge. He looked in healthy shape, but not overly athletic, and wore glasses with brushed pewter frames. A month ago, Blair would have found this man very attractive. Now all he could do was compare the man to Forge and wasn’t surprised when Forge’s features were much more preferable. He returned the shirt and moved across the store, rifling through packages of socks, then picked out a pair of sunglasses. A quick glance over his shoulder confirmed the man was still watching him like a hawk. Blair made his purchases, putting the sunglasses on as he left the store, hurrying past the man and making sure not to look at him. Two doors down was an outdoor apparel store. Blair ducked in and again, the man loitered outside. This store was two floors, so after spending a few minutes browsing the first floor, Blair proceeded up the steps. The man stepped inside and stayed on the first floor, where he would likely have a good view of the second floor. Blair picked out a denim jacket. On a table near the stairs was a locked display of hunting knives. Blair considered buying one of them. “Now I’m nuts,” he mumbled. “What do I need a knife for? I’m a damn vampire.” After purchasing the jacket, Blair decided to go to the local electronics store. Being followed and not having a phone was freaking him out. Good selection or not, Blair needed a phone. As he walked, he kept glancing around but didn’t spot his follower. The store, though small, was well stocked. Blair got caught up in examining his options and started when he felt someone behind him. Blair turned, expecting a salesperson. Instead, it was the man who’d been following him. “Are you knowledgeable about these things?” the man asked, a smooth smile warming his face. “I… yeah,” Blair said. The guy looked geeky, but he wasn’t or he wouldn’t have to ask a stranger in a store about a smartphone. Human bodies make a lot of noise. Forge’s off-the-cuff statement screamed in Blair’s head. Pay attention to what a body does. There was the distinct sound of fluid rushing through the man, but no heartbeat. He gave off none of the heat a vampire, human, or werewolf would have, though it varied from creature to creature. Moose was hotter than them all. “I think these people work on commission. Ask them.” Blair pushed past the man. He’d need ID to get a phone activated anyway. Blair was at the store exit when the thought hit him that the man hadn’t drawn a breath. Or exhaled. He hurried from the store to the parking lot. Blair unlocked and scrambled into Lucas’s Jeep. He saw the man sitting on a bench not too far from the lot. Ben had written down directions to the police station. Blair glanced at the paper as he drove. Half a mile from the electronics store, the man was standing at a street corner, watching the Jeep. Blair’s heart was racing in his chest by the time he reached the police station. The enclosed garage had a big sign over the entrance informing him authorized personnel only. Blair doubted having sex with a detective gave him authorization, even if he was said detective’s soulmate. The visitor’s lot was out in the open, between the main building and the employee parking garage. There were security cameras everywhere, and Blair wondered if he was tense enough to show up. He spotted the man on the sidewalk in front of the station. Blair hurried up the steps and into the building. Once inside he took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down. There was a desk with thick glass separating it from the room Blair stood in. He stepped up to it and smiled at the officer on the other side. He hadn’t done anything wrong, or broken any laws, and still he was nervous when he asked, “Is Detective Forge here? Or Dr. Coate? I’m a friend, Dr. Coate lent me his Jeep. Sorry to bother them at work.” Blair would clearly never make a good criminal, he blathered out everything. The officer, an older man with a wide, grayish mustache, smiled broadly. “Dr. Coate is like that. Good guy. He’d give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. They were out on a call. I’m not sure if they’re back, but you can wait here, and I’ll check. What’s your name?” “Blair Turner.” “Got some ID?” Blair’s heart sank, and his panic ramped. “My wallet was stolen. Detective Forge knows about it.” Electric Candle is available in eBook. paperback and through Kindle Unlimited. My snippet this week is from A Barlow Lens, book 2 of Circles. Wyatt arched an eyebrow, pushed up against the headboard, and folded one arm behind his head. Val dropped the phone on his chest, gave him a cocky grin, and said, “US Marshals’ office. It’s not for me.” Val rolled off the bed, smiling when Wyatt caressed his rear and then gave him a playful slap. “Bathroom. Don’t wander off.” Still watching Val as he ambled to the bathroom, Wyatt put the phone to his ear. “Harig.” A man cleared his throat, and a gravelly voice asked, “Uh, I hope I’m not calling too early?” Wyatt laughed at that. “I don’t think it’s ever an inappropriate time for the US Marshals’ office to call. And since you’re at work early on a Sunday morning….” Check out more snippets and some cool art in the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. Once he was home, Ian double-checked the locks and alarm system before changing into a t-shirt and linen lounge pants. He padded barefoot through the house to the living room. Rarely did he bring work home, but when he did, he never used their bedroom despite how comfortable the bed was. He did, however, grab two of the large, firm pillows and carried them to the living room. Ian settled on the couch, the big pillows behind him. He pulled the coffee table closer and lifted the top, placing his laptop on it. “Play Ian’s music.” The smart speakers came to life, playing Ian’s favorites. There were plenty of ways to look into a person’s life and Ian had the resources to look very deep. When the room began darkening to the point he had to squint, Ian took a break, turned on lights and got a tall glass of the fruit infused water Taren made and always kept in a pitcher. Taren arrived home just as Ian was resuming his task. He hung his jacket on one of the hooks near the door and tossed his keys into a bowl on the kitchen counter. “Whatcha doing?” “I didn’t bring work home if that’s what you’re trying to ask.” Ian glanced up and smiled. Taren sat on the couch facing Ian. “The look on your face tells me that.” He reached out and squeezed Ian’s knee. “So, what are you so engrossed in?” Ian took a deep breath and let it out slowly, not sure how Taren was going to take what he was about to say. “I’ve been looking into Kevin.” Raising his eyebrows, Taren said softly, “Oh. Why now?” “He paid a visit today.” Taren shrugged. “So, he said he’d have to bring others to look over the resort.” “That’s just it. He came by himself.” “Are you alright?” Ian took Taren’s hand. “Yes. I admit I was uncomfortable, but it was fine.” “Why didn’t you call me? I’d have met you,” Taren asked. Ian couldn’t hold back the eyeroll. “Taren, be realistic. I’m not going to call my husband in for every meeting that makes me uncomfortable.” “When that meeting involves a man we’ve been intimate with, and is a Dom, yes, you can,” Taren shot back. “No one would’ve known why I was there. I visit you all the time.” “In this instance, he wasn’t a Dom, but a potential client of the business I own!” Ian yanked his hand away. “Ian, Kevin isn’t any client, he’s dominated you!” Kevin’s words of ‘what would Taren think of us’ echoed in Ian’s head. “You don’t trust me?” “Of course I trust you. It’s Kevin I don’t trust,” Taren said softly. “And it’s my job to protect you.” “Not in my professional life.” Taren blew out a harsh breath, clearly not agreeing with Ian. “Kevin is a great guy when it comes to a good time, but he can get a little obsessive.” He pointed to the laptop. “What did you find?” “You’ve never looked into his background?” “No, Ian, you know I can’t without a warrant or at least an active investigation. And I had no reason to do any sort of check.” “You introduced him to me,” Ian said quietly. Taren flinched. “You had a choice.” “I know.” Ian turned the laptop so the screen faced Taren. “This is what I found.” “There’s nothing here but the basics,” Taren said. “Yeah. That’s the point. We do security checks on potential employees as well as execs bringing in big groups of people. No one is this squeaky clean.” “No, they’re not,” Taren muttered. “Could he hide or alter information?” Ian asked. Taren shook his head. “I have no idea. He develops gaming code and software. The guy is a true geek.” Ian’s phone blared three quick tones, making them both start. It was the alert used if there was a serious emergency at the resort. Twisting around, Ian looked at the coffee table. Taren turned in the opposite direction and took a few steps to the kitchen. “Here.” He snatched the phone off the counter and held it out to Ian. Ian took the device, his hand shaking. “Thanks.” Swiping the screen, he spoke into it. “What’s going on?” He listened to a young woman, Lynn, stammer through an explanation. She was a college student and probably all of twenty. “Calm down, I’ll be there in twenty minutes and tell the night manager to shut the damn thing down.” Taren sat on the couch. “What happened?” “I’m not sure.” Ian began to pace after ending his call with Lynn. “Something with the Wi-Fi, there’s a public network for guests and a private one for payments and guest information. I don’t understand how, but now that private network that should be secure is open to anyone. We have an outside cyber security company on retainer.” He stopped and scrolled through his phone. “I have to call the—” Ian stopped talking when the call connected. “That’s rich. Twenty sales calls, procedural meetings, employee updates a week, and when I really need them, I get the damn voicemail! What the hell am I paying them for?” “Ian.” Taren stood and crossed to Ian, taking his shoulders. “Don’t you fucking dare to tell me to calm down!” Ian snapped. Wyatt twisted his torso and repeated his flexing and extending exercises of a few minutes ago. Hopefully between that and the effects of adrenaline, he’d be able to move and fight efficiently if the need arose. Val groaned again, louder this time. When Wyatt turned back to look at him, he saw Val lift one hand sluggishly to his forehead. He wasted no time getting back to Val’s side, setting the flashlight on the floor beside him. “God, Val, this is all my fault. I’m sorry. So sorry,” Wyatt said. He knelt and slipped one arm under Val’s shoulders, then helped him to sit up. “What are you…? How is…? Sorry for what?” Val rubbed his head and looked around. “We’re inside the storage unit.” “I lost my temper and threatened Kevin.” Val squinted at him and quirked an eyebrow. “Didn’t I tell you I thought that was hot?” Wyatt grabbed Val around the waist and hoisted him to his feet. “We gotta get outta here before he comes back. What do you remember?” “Uh, he shot you with a Taser. I guess that’s what it was. You looked like you were having a seizure.” Val’s face paled, and his voice trembled. “I think technically that’s what was happening.” Wyatt gave Val a squeeze and tried to laugh a little, but it came out weak. “I jumped Kevin from behind, which I found out too late was a bad idea. He’s like some ninja sumo wrestler. You guys are fuckin’ scary sometimes,” Val said. “You actually jumped on his back?” Wyatt asked. When Val nodded, Wyatt continued, “Don’t ever do that. You really just give your opponent the upper hand.” “Thanks, now you tell me. He had the advantage all right. I can kick ass virtually, but in real life, not so much.” Wyatt rubbed one hand over Val’s hair and pressed his lips to Val’s forehead. “You do perfectly.” They leaned on one another and crossed the few feet to the smaller of the two doors. Wyatt tried the handle, but it wouldn’t budge. “Jammed or locked from the outside somehow. Let’s try the bay door, though I suppose that’s locked as well.” He tried to open the bigger door, but it was indeed locked. “Got your phone?” Wyatt let go of Val and patted himself down. “Mine is gone.” Val leaned against the small section of wall between the two doors and searched his pockets. He shook his head. “No.” “Well, it was a long shot he’d leave us with a way to call for help.” Wyatt turned and took another look around the unit. “There was a tool chest here. Kevin probably took that, too.” He noted the fire extinguisher he’d seen earlier had been removed from its holder. A shiver worked its way down his spine, and an urgent need to get out tickled at the base of his skull. “No, I bet he never saw it. I kept tripping over it, so I shoved it back there.” Val pointed to a spot near the far end of the room. Wyatt grabbed Val’s face with both hands and gave him a wet, sloppy, noisy kiss. “I love you. You’re a natural at this!” He headed to the spot Val pointed to. “I’m really not,” Val muttered. “Your phone is right here.” Val stopped next to some boxes that were stacked about hip high. He held Wyatt’s phone up for him to see. Something cold and raw swept through Wyatt’s gut and made his breath catch in his throat. The shiver and desperate desire to escape now threatened to overshadow Wyatt’s ability to think clearly. He shoved speculation and conjecture about why his phone was there away. Don’t panic. He recited rule number one and focused on the problem at hand as he’d been trained to do many years ago. “Val, where is that toolbox?” It was an effort for Wyatt to keep his voice even and calm. Kevin wouldn’t forget the phone or overlook it. It had been left for a reason. Val pointed to one of the benches. “Under that.” His thumb poised over the phone’s screen. “At least we can call—” A call came in, and Val stared at the phone in his hand, eyebrows going up. “Unavailable.” NEW RELEASE

When Seth handed the slip back to him, he smiled broadly. “Thanks, man. You just made my night!” “No problem,” Seth replied. “You brought the food, so I think it was you who made my night.” The pizza boy looked Seth up and down. “Wish you’d make my night some other way then.” He flashed his big smile, his “come hither” face, and turned away. As the pizza guy eyed him, Seth suddenly remembered he wasn’t wearing anything except Caleb’s shorts. After all the shit he’d done earlier, being ogled one more time by a stranger didn’t really matter to him. The guy was totally not his type anyway. Seth closed the door and picked up the pizzas. The small table next to the door was a thoughtful idea, very convenient for deliveries. Seemed like Caleb ordered a lot of food delivery, if his speed dial was any indication. He brought the pizzas back to Caleb’s man cave, where he plopped down in his spot on the couch. Immediately, he opened a box and grabbed a hot slice. He took a double bite. He hadn’t realized how ravenous he was. Caleb wasn’t in the room when Seth returned with the pizza. Seth hadn’t noticed his absence until he heard the bottles clinking from across the hall. Caleb appeared in the doorway before Seth could chew up his first bite. “Mmm, that smells good!” Seth couldn’t answer. Mouth full. Caleb set a frosty bottle on the table next to the pizza box. He had another one for himself. Seth swallowed, grabbed the beer, and swigged down a big gulp. “Grab a slice,” he said. “Don’t mind if I do!” “Try not to get drunk again,” Seth warned. “Nothing good comes from that.” There was a cold seriousness in his voice. The unspoken issue—the elephant in the room—was made vividly clear. Caleb was glad when Seth didn’t mention the specifics. Caleb sat on the couch next to Seth, lifted the box lid and took a slice for himself. He bit into it. Made an approving gruff “yummy” sound to signal his approval of both the quality of the pie and Seth’s choice of toppings. They sat on the couch side by side, enjoying the pizza and beer. Caleb got up once to switch the music when Gravehuffer finished. They didn’t say much of anything for a while. They were just two men filling their bellies. My snippet is from Force Majeure, a Pain and Pleasure story. Ian pulled the e-stim kit from one of the drawers and tossed it on the bed. Next, he grabbed a hood and harness from their resting place on the wall and set those on the bed beside the e-stim. He scooped up the crumpled notecard and wandered to the kitchen, spreading it out on the kitchen table. He smoothed it with both hands until it lay flat again and stood staring down at it. Barely aware of Taren coming into the house, Ian started when one of Taren’s big, warm hands came to rest on his shoulders. “Sorry, I thought you heard me,” Taren said softly. He leaned over Ian’s shoulder and kissed his cheek. Reaching around Ian, Taren flicked at the notecard. “Is this what has you so worked up? I got one, too. I didn’t think you’d be upset.” “It was delivered at work,” Ian mumbled. Force Majeure is available in eBook, paperback, through Kindle Unlimited and through your library digital catalog. I thought my ex-husband’s twin hated me. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Blurb After my marriage breaks down, I move to a new town to start fresh and follow my dream of being a farmer. I know my ex’s twin, Jimmy, is at uni here, but I never expected our paths to cross—especially not like this. I’d always assumed Jimmy hated me for coming between him and his brother. But a drunken one-night stand leaves me reeling, confused about his feelings—and my own. Jimmy isn’t the judgmental shadow of his brother. He’s caring, protective, and sees me in a way no one else has. Reconnecting with him is wonderful, but a heavy question looms: can I truly give him my heart without hurting the man I used to love? Falling for my Ex’s Twin is a 50,000-word contemporary M/M romance between a farmer healing from a toxic relationship and his childhood friend, who shows him he deserves to be put first. TW: mentions of a past coercive/controlling relationship. Excerpt “I need a drink.” I stomp towards the opposite end of the bar from where Flynn is sitting, find a vacant stool, and wave to the bartender. When it’s my turn, I order a shot of vodka. A glance down the bar tells me Flynn is on shots, too. Copycat. I ignore the fact he got his drink first. Angus sits beside me. I down the shot of vodka. It warms the back of my tongue and slides down smoothly. The aftertaste hits, making me grimace. I order another. “You know vodka is depression juice, right?” Angus asks. “Don’t care.” I down the second shot and ask for a glass of red wine. Mixing drinks is the fastest way to get drunk and fuck, do I want to get drunk. “Are you okay?” Angus asks. No. My mood has soured, thanks to Flynn. “Fine.” I can’t help but glance down the bar at Flynn with his fluffy, brown hair and piercing blue eyes that used to make me swoon. He looks sinfully handsome in a close-fitting, white T-shirt and an unbuttoned overshirt. “What’s the deal with you and Flynn?” First Steph and now Angus. Wasn’t my explanation clear enough? “I told you. He’s my twin’s ex-husband.” He’s also the one who got away. The first guy I ever had a crush on. The guy who made me realise I was bisexual. The guy my bastard twin knew I fancied, but chased after anyway. “So, what? They had a messy breakup, and now you hate him? Did he break your brother’s heart?” I stare into the large glass of red that the bartender put in front of me. From what I’ve been told, their breakup was quiet and amicable. The way Mum tells it, they ‘fell out of love’, whatever the fuck that means. “No.” I sip the wine. It’s cheap and tastes crap. Sipping it isn’t an option, so I down it in a couple of long gulps. I gesture to the barman to pour me another. “He must have done something to get you so het up.” “Leave it, Angus. I don’t want to talk about it.” I’ll get angry, maybe sad, and then angry all over again. Angus raises his hands. “Okay. Tell me when you do want to talk. I’ll listen.” About the Author Colette’s personal love story began at university, where she met her future husband. As they approached the next entrance, Lucas started in but Forge stopped him, gave him a shove, and motioned farther east. By the time they burst out of the water and hauled themselves to the next cement room, they were both gasping. “Oh, crap,” Lucas exhaled and gulped in some deep breaths. He climbed out of the water, shaking his hands dry. Forge straightened, looking around. “Yeah. Sorry. I got a feeling all of a sudden.” He dashed toward the closest room. “Blair!” He charged into the area, Lucas on his heels. They stopped short just inside the door. It was darker in here, and Forge’s eyes needed a second to adjust. He pushed the goggles onto the top of his head and took in the sight spread before them. There were empty vials in wire racks stacked in one corner. Ripped and tattered clothes were piled in another corner. Next to that were two bodies; Forge could tell by the odor they were dead. Lucas strode to the bodies, knelt, and checked them. He looked over his shoulder at Forge and shook his head. There were oxygen tanks and masks littering some open shelving along a wall. They could see another room through a partially opened door. Forge charged through and nearly fell over Blair. Blair was naked, on his back, and barely conscious, his hands and feet twitching. Forge dropped beside him, brushed one hand through Blair’s hair, and lightly touched a half dozen small, round scorch marks. “What the—” “We’ll figure it out later. Right now, we have to get him out. Use my suit.” Lucas grabbed Forge’s arm. “Now!” Forge looked up, wanting to ask what Lucas meant about the suit, then saw for himself. Lucas peeled his wetsuit off and dropped it beside Blair. A man and woman stood in the doorway. The man smirked, and the woman said in a low half growl, “You’ve got to be kidding. I’d heard stories about a werewolf who liked the stink of trash.” Lucas and the two strangers growled and snarled at each other. In the blink of an eye, Forge was surrounded by three very pissed off werewolves. He wrapped Lucas’s suit around Blair as best he could and pulled the satchel around to dig out the flare gun. The strangers charged, and Lucas met them head-on. Forge heard gnashing teeth and claws, tearing flesh followed by the smell of blood. He swiveled on his knees, took aim, and fired at the closest werewolf, missing Lucas by a hair. The flare ripped into the female wolf’s chest. He didn’t know if it would kill her, but it did set her on fire. Forge fired his second flare. The male wolf was the one wounded. He had a long, jagged cut on his shoulder but was able to twist away, so was only grazed by the flare. It landed in a pile of debris, igniting it immediately. Forge pulled his goggles down, shouldered both his and Lucas’s satchel, then slipped the mask over Blair’s face. He tucked the tank under one arm before scooping Blair up and holding him tightly. He moved as quickly as he could to the outer dock and turned. Lucas wasn’t far behind. “Lucas! Get us out of here!” In the next instant, Lucas crashed into them, wrapped both forelimbs around Forge and Blair, and plunged them into the murky waters of Lake Erie.
