My snippet this week is from Electric Candle, book 2 of The Sleepless City, cowritten with Anne Barwell. “Yeah. I don’t remember most of the time between dying and Declan rescuing me. I know I was angry, a lot. I wanted to die and didn’t and I was fucking pissed off about that. And scared. Every day was nothing but terror and I’m not even sure I can explain why.” Blair leaned his elbows on his knees and rested his chin against his knuckles, watching Forge. “And Declan rescued you from that?” “Yes. It was bizarre. When I left society, there was no United States. We were the British Colonies. I came back to a whole new nation, new life, and nothing I knew remained,” Forge said. “I understand being lonely and thinking I have to live that way, with no one else, no companions. Declan came along, I don’t know how, or why he felt the need to help me, but he did. He took care of me and made the world a much less scary place for me at what was possibly the lowest point in my life.” “That’s rough. So, you and this Declan guy stuck together?” Forge nodded, and Blair stared up at the sky for a few minutes before continuing. “You love him a lot, huh?” “Yes. But I have a bond with you, so my feelings for you are stronger than for anyone else.” Blair nodded. “Do you like him—Declan—more?” Forge opened his mouth, then closed it and looked away. Blair stood up. “That’s what I figured. I’m tired now, and the pain stopped. Guess I’ll go back to bed.” Electric Candle is available from Amazon and is on sale this week. $3.99 for the eBook and $9.99 for the paperback.

“We’re going to presume at least one of those people is a top-notch tracker, and they’ve spent time trailing humans,” Mason said over his shoulder. “What I did will confuse, but not totally fool, someone with that level of skill. The thing is, we all know the same tricks. Hopefully, by the time they work out where we went, we will have enough of a head start.” “Where are we going?” Mason stopped and pointed. “Into the stream. Can’t leave tracks in water.” “It’s a river, and we’ll be out in the open,” Riece said. “No plan is perfect, and we won’t be in it that long. The idea is if they follow us this far, they’ll lose us in the water. They’ll have to guess which way we went. It’s a crap shoot for us too, but we’ve got no other choice.” Mason stopped, pressed his lips together for a few seconds, and looked around before continuing. “Riece, you do realize if they catch us again, or get close to us, it’ll be us or them.” “Meaning?” “Meaning I don’t know what will happen,” Mason said and walked toward the river. Riece followed along silently. My snippet this week comes from For the Long Run. Jay blinked up at him, head cocked to one side. “N-no, I’m not, but I didn’t think you’d want the job now. You’re not obligated.” There was no way Eric was letting this opportunity slip away. A lot more was going on with this young man, and he wanted to know what. Mostly, Eric wasn’t one to take a second chance for granted. Selfishly, he wanted Jay, and not simply for one night. No one had ever gotten under his skin so quickly and completely. “No, I’m not obligated. What I am, however, is intrigued. You need a head of security that has real murder and crime scene experience.” Eric thumped his chest with his free hand. “Moi. Besides, there is a lot to be said for fate and bad date-night movie plots.” Read more snippets at the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group.
My teaser this week is from Edge Jump, an erotic thriller. It's available from JMS Books, Amazon and other fine booksellers. Links are below. Rylan shuddered when Brett’s fingers dug into the tender skin of his rear and he ground his pelvis against Brett’s. They did a slow spin and Rylan let his head drop back, exposing his throat to Brett’s mouth. Brett gave a gentle push off the ice with one foot, moved one arm up, and held Rylan about the waist in a powerful grip. “I loved watching you stretch and spin. That’s fucking sexy,” Brett said right before he scraped his teeth down Rylan’s throat. Rylan arched his back farther, letting Brett support his weight. Brett’s other hand gripped Rylan’s hair, tipping his head back even more while he moved his lips up and down Rylan’s neck, then sucking ever so lightly on Rylan’s Adam’s apple. Rylan straightened and hooked one arm around Brett’s neck, kissing him. Slight pressure from Brett’s tongue and Rylan opened his lips far enough their tongues slipped and slid over each other. They’d stopped moving and were in the center of the rink. Brett’s fingers combed through Rylan’s hair a few times before he deepened their kiss and slipped the fingers of his other hand down and between Rylan’s ass cheeks, pressing against the thong strap of his belt. The sensation made him tremble. The sound of machinery made them both jump and separate. Brett chuckled and took Rylan’s hand, leading him off the ice as one of the crew drove the Zamboni out. “I think they want to clean the ice and prep for the show. Ready to head back to the hotel?” Purchase
