“Let’s do this quickly and safely. Once we have this level secure, we can use it as a base of operations.” Sophia adjusted her Taser holster and mock saluted Declan and Jonas before she tapped Kai’s arm and they moved off to their designated search area. Jonas pressed his earbud, turning it off. “Think we’ll find more of the crew alive?” he asked softly. “I almost wish we don’t,” Declan replied after his earbud was off. He patted Jonas’s shoulder and turned his earbud back on. Jonas followed suit as they moved through the rooms. “Did you recognize that man?” Jonas asked. Due to the popularity of bl dramas, a lead part in one is considered the quickest route to fame for young male actors. Rama isn't worried about playing opposite a man; he's more concerned about the outward affection that fanservice in the bl industry demands from its actors--his past girlfriends didn’t dub him "iceman" for nothing. Recently outed in an industry that prefers their actors to be straight, Pravat feels lucky when he wins a lead role in a new series. The phenomenal chemistry between him and his co-star launches them to top fan popularity. By the time Pravat realizes he's falling for Rama, it's too late to turn back. BOOK 2

The chemistry between the two young actors and their popularity as a couple has won them a second season of their series, which means they'll have to keep their budding relationship a secret. The bl industry frowns on gay actors, particularly those who want to date each other. But the couple is determined to make things work. Meanwhile, the upcoming wedding of his favorite cousin threatens to throw Rama into family drama due to his recent confession that his aunt molested him when he was an adolescent. With the cards stacked against them, Rama and Pravat worry that love might not be enough to keep them together. BOOK 3

He knows from experience how easy it is to get too attached to your partner in this business, and, with his sister's tuition to pay for, he can't afford to get lost in his feelings. But with competitive fanservice blurring the lines, it isn't long before Spin finds himself falling hard for his handsome costar. Now, it's his heart as well as his job he has to worry about. BOOK 4
Can two best friends play lovers for the camera? Book Title: Friend Ship Length: 285 pages Release Date: August 1, 2025 Tropes: best friends to lovers, hurt/comfort, extravert/intravert Themes: found family, parental rejection, responsibility, love It is a standalone story and does not end on a cliffhanger. Blurb The only reason Mee Noi agrees to help Sud with his video exam for theater arts is because Sud insists Mee Noi is the only guy he can convincingly do a love scene with. Neither of them expect the project to turn into an offer to play a couple in a boys' love series, but that's exactly what happens. Since it's Sud's big chance to make his dream of being an actor a reality, Mee Noi is determined to make it work. But although acting is surprisingly fun, it's also stressful and exhausting, especially when you don't know what you're doing, and soon it begins to take both a physical and a psychological toll on Mee Noi as painful memories from the past begin to surface. When Sud's video project wins him and Mee Noi an audition for a bl series, it's a dream come true. But he's pretty sure it's more of a nightmare for his introverted friend, who only got into this to help Sud out. Yet Mee Noi accepts the part when it's offered, and the gesture adds to the budding feelings Sud's starting to have for his best friend. When Mee Noi has a frightening panic attack at work, Sud tells himself that he must bury those feelings. Mee Noi hasn't had an easy life; the last thing Sud wants to do is put more pressure on him. The worst irony would be for them to play friends-to-lovers in the series only to have their real friendship end because of it. EXCERPT from Boys’ Love, book 1 “Tell me all about Pravat,” my sister demands, plopping down on the gold sofa and pulling a fringed throw pillow onto her lap. “You probably already know more about him than I do.” “Did he say anything about your audition?” “Just that I did well.” Chinda grins. “You really did. It surprised me. Did you talk about anything personal?” “Thanks, and you’re being silly,” I scoff. “We talked about the job.” “Come on, Rama, there must be something. Please tell me.” She pouts. My sister and I have always been close, and I admit I cave to her wiles most of the time. “He told me he’s still in university and that he’s gay but doesn’t have a boyfriend right now. He said boyfriends tend to get jealous of what he does. This is just between us,” I belatedly warn her. “It’s not a secret that he’s gay. That came out sometime last year when he was outed by his co-star.” I frown. “He was outed? That’s awful.” Chinda nods. “Yeah. Especially since it’s preferred that bl actors be straight. His co-star claimed Pravat came onto him, which makes Pravat sound like a troublemaker. I think the guy lied because he was jealous of Pravat’s popularity.” My mind snags on the first thing she said. “Why do they prefer the actors to be straight? I would think gay actors would do better in a gay romance.” Chinda shrugs. “Less drama, I guess. Easier if there’s no chance of feelings getting into the way. I think, too, that viewers like the idea of two men falling in love against their natural inclinations. What else did you and Pravat talk about?” I’m digesting the information and take a moment to respond. “He mentioned Y-couples, and I told him you’d bring me up to speed on them.” “I can definitely do that.” Jumping up from her seat, my sister runs for her room, returning seconds later with her iPad. “As I’ve already explained to you, the term Y-couple comes from Yaoi, a popular genre in Japan that pairs two men together.” She pulls up a video. “This is the most popular Y-couple right now. ChaoFinn.” I frown, looking at the thumbnail of two guys smiling at the camera. “What kind of name is that?” “It’s their ship name. Their two names together, Chao and Finn. You and Pravat have already been dubbed Pravma.” I watch the video, taken at a fan meeting, of Chao and Finn holding hands, wrapping their arms around each other, and doing other romantic things that have their fans screaming and clapping for them. When Chao sits down and pulls Finn onto his lap, the cheers and applause get even louder. “This is what you have to look forward to,” my sister says, smiling. Alarmed, I look from the screen to her and back again. “Do you really think so?” “Yes. Believe me, the two of you are hot together. I mean, from an outsider’s standpoint. You’re my brother and not hot to me.” I chuckle. “Thanks for clearing that up. But can you really imagine me sitting on someone’s lap like this?” I ask. Imagining doing that with Pravat Benjawan has my face heating. “If you allow yourself to relax, maybe. You have to play the game if you want the fame. That reminds me. You need a manager.” I groan. “They’ve already started calling me. I have no idea who to pick.” “Ask Pravat. I’m sure he can help you with that. You’re going to have to put yourself out there, Rama.” Annoyed at being lectured by my younger sister, I harrumph and go back to watching the video.
About the Author Rebecca James grew up escaping into books because book people were more interesting than real-life people. This naturally led to creating her own book people and the worlds they live in. Somewhere during all this, Rebecca found herself captivated with the tender side of relationships between men, which eventually led her to write "slash" (M/M) fanfiction and later to brave the world of M/M romance publishing. If she could write full time, all the time, she would be happiest. Whether she's writing about tough bikers, hot shifters, aliens, or Thai actors falling in love on the job, Rebecca puts passion into all her characters. After kissing Eric’s cheek softly, Jay headed to get the drinks and throw some popcorn into the microwave. When he returned, he set the bowl on the couch between them and their drinks on the end tables. “Okay, see here, these photos and drawings. Look at how the body is wounded, the marks, particularly the placement.” Jay looked down, stuffing a handful of popcorn into his mouth at the same time, chewing slowly. The few minutes away from Eric and his muscles, along with the images of ripped apart bodies, had cooled his impressive and insistent hard-on. “See these marks here? Whatever it was grabbed these men and ripped open their ribcage, spread it apart like this,” Eric went on. Holding both hands like claws, he simulated grabbing something and spreading it apart in a slow, steady ripping motion. “Then it moved down to the abdomen. Part of the right lung, arteries and veins, and the right side of the heart are always missing. So are chunks of the spleen and liver. All the victims, every single one dating back to 1783, were male. Never younger than twenty, never older than thirty.” “So, the killer is a woman… female?” Jay asked. “That would be my first thought, but I don’t know of any woman with the upper body strength to do that with their bare hands. Or any men for that matter. There is never any indication some sort of medical instrument like a rib spreader was used.” “How could anyone tell?” “A tool, such as a rib spreader, would leave distinctive marks and traces of metal that forensics this century would find.” Jay studied the prints and photos for a few minutes, shifting from one to the next before reading more of the descriptions. “And that leads to a what, not a who.” He flicked a finger at the paperwork. “It’s almost as if this stuff was put together by the same person—it’s that exact in detail.” Eric nodded. “Yeah, I know. The anger of the attacker just radiates off these.” Jay rubbed at his forehead with one hand, trying to steady the couch that wanted to sway slightly all of a sudden. “I can’t imagine being attacked like that. It must have been terrifying for those men. What an awful way to die.” His mind insisted on an instant replay of what he’d seen earlier that day, right down to the smallest detail. Shuddering, he mumbled, “Sorry.” “Hey, nothing to be sorry for.” Eric rubbed Jay’s back with one hand and took the pictures away from Jay with the other, setting them back into the file and closing it. “Someone not affected by this stuff is not anyone I’d want to be involved with, or even associate much with, trust me.” Jay leaned forward, elbows on his knees, drawing in and letting out a few deep, slow breaths. He concentrated on the way Eric’s hand moved in circles, massaging the tense muscles of Jay’s back until he relaxed. “Don’t killers, even crazy ones, have some kind of motive, even if us sane people don’t understand it?” Jay asked when his head was clearer. “They do. In every case, all the bodies are dumped somewhere away from where they were killed, and they’re dumped in the same spot. In other instances, they seemed to me to be a little better hidden, but I don’t think that is anything other than terrain and population conditions. Certain predators will take their prey to one location, kill it, and then remove the remains they don’t want to another location.” Eric’s hand dropped away and rested on his leg. “House cleaning,” Jay said. “Exactly. There are legends and myths of many types of creatures that will do the same thing. Many of the different shifter-type creatures have a territory, they’re attracted to their victims because of some kind of greed, and never leave the bodies in their lair.” Eric pulled a thin book from his carry bag and set it in Jay’s lap. Leaning back, Jay flipped through the pages, reading bits here and there. “Quite a few of these creatures share similar characteristics. These things are only supposed to be in books and movies, but so many different cultures have almost the same myths. I guess it’s true all myth has some basis in fact. We need to figure out what the territory is. Maybe it’s not land, maybe it’s something else? Maybe the bodies are being dumped in the same spot because they’re some sort of gift or offering from this creature to another creature, or even a person?” “Christ, I hadn’t thought of that. I’ve been looking for a geographic territory or maybe a nesting area.” “How do we figure it out?” Eric ran one hand through his hair, staring at the papers spread before them. “We find the link, the one single commonality in the men murdered here.” “They were all on the resort.” “Okay, Jay, we start there. We’ll have to backtrack, figure out where exactly and who they had contact with. Do you remember any of them other than the waiter who worked for you for a day?” Jay shrugged. “I had about a three-minute conversation with him. I don’t know about the others. The police showed me their pictures. Maybe I saw them. If I had contact with them, it wasn’t more than a hello. Dozens of people pass through every day. Some come for a stay; others just hit the dining hall for a meal on their trip. We have a gun shop that does firearm and knife repairs. There is a decent equipment shop for hiking, canoeing supplies, that sort of thing. People come here for reasons other than spending a night or hunting.” “Alright, in the morning make a list of every place a person could go to on the resort and why. Then we’ll go one at a time and canvass all those places and find someone who remembers the victims.” “Wouldn’t the police have done that?” Jay asked. “Yeah, but maybe not with the thought they were all in the sports shop or had a meal here or something very mundane. They’d be looking for a person who had contact with all of them. They’re looking for a human suspect with human motives.” Jay stretched, then leaned back, yawning. He glanced at the clock. It was nearly midnight. He hadn’t realized it’d gotten so late. Eric’s hand slipped across his leg, fingers digging into his inner thigh, then caressing up and down his re-hardening cock. Once again Jay was acutely aware of every movement of silky, slippery fabric over his skin. By the time Eric stood and pulled Jay off the couch and into the bedroom, Jay’s breathing was quick and harsh. His brain was scattered and his body on fire again from Eric’s touches and kisses. Settled in the bed for the night, Jay’s senses had narrowed down to the hot baseball bat his cock felt like between his legs, to Eric’s thick thigh between his legs, applying pressure and taking it away, the scratch of the sheets, and the warm body of his new lover in bed beside him. It made for a restless night for Jay. Mason nodded and followed Riece to the possible bit of shelter. It wasn’t really so much a cave as an indent in the hill. There was enough room for them to squeeze inside and out of sight. Mason pulled some grass closer to the opening, then turned and used both feet to shove dirt toward it in an effort to disguise the fact they’d gone inside. “Do you think they saw us?” “Don’t ever think otherwise until you can prove it.” Holding his finger to his lips, Mason pushed Riece farther back and at the same time inched toward the opening. He held his breath and listened for a bit before shaking his head. “I don’t hear anyone.” He turned back to Riece. “Let’s do something about that arm.” Riece was rifling through the bear bag. “Our canteen is here, filled with water. The first aid kit,” he said and pulled it out and dropped it on the ground beside his leg. “Our phones are gone.” Mason opened the first aid kit and took Riece’s arm. “It was a long shot that they’d leave our stuff alone.” He took alcohol wipes from the kit and tore them open. “They obviously found our camp and probably reasoned we’d go back there for supplies and communications.” Mason wiped the gash on Riece’s arm clean. Riece sucked in a harsh breath and hissed, then bit down on his lip. Mason ran one hand through his hair and said softly, “Sorry.” He smoothed a Telfa pad over the wound and used some gauze wrapped around Riece’s arm to make sure it stayed there. “That’ll do for now and keep you from attracting a curious bear.” When Riece chuckled Mason looked at him and frowned. “That wasn’t a joke.” “It still was kind of funny,” Riece said. “Okay. Yeah, it was.” Mason gathered the wipes and packaging and stuffed it all back into the bear bag. Mason gave in to the urge to pull Riece into a tight hug for a moment. He reluctantly let go a few seconds later and took some deep breaths. “They want us out in the open. There are more caves on the other side of the hills and also a road another few miles beyond that. Tyler shortcuts down it a lot when he’s running late on his deliveries.” “Go there?” Mason nodded. “I think so. If Tyler uses that road, it’s reasonable to think other people do as well.” He pulled two sealed bottles of water from the bear bag. “Looks like they left us a gift.” Mason handed one off to Riece. He cracked open the other and took a drink from it. The canteen was full, but that water he dumped out. When Riece raised his eyebrows, Mason explained, “Let’s not trust that they didn’t put something in here our purifiers won’t take care of.” “Drugs?” “Maybe. These are still sealed, and I’m guessing that was to encourage us to think the canteen wasn’t tampered with,” Mason said. He scooted closer to the entrance and peered out. Riece moved behind him and gripped his arm, whispering, “See anyone?” SERIES TOUR with Book 4 NEW RELEASE Darklight Series by Sean Ian O’Meidhir & Connal Braginsky
Series Blurb The Darklight series follows the tumultuous and increasingly complex journey of Nathen Hale, a newly awakened vampire on the autism spectrum, and Cameron Corazon, a powerful telepathic psychologist. This is the end of the series and the book has no cliffhanger. Excerpt From Chapter Four, Lemniscate, Book 4 Fitful dreams accompanied Cameron through sleep and now he stared at August whose thoughts were still and eyes were shut as if in a sort of trance. Nathen’s mind wandered his pocket realm of cyber nirvana and Cameron met mental static. How was it he, the telepath who could get lost in listening to a thousand mental voices, and the two he wanted to talk to right now were unavailable—like and old-fashioned busy signal on a phone? He imagined shaking their mental 8-ball toy and coming up with “Reply hazy, try again later.” Their plan is stupid! Go in and “talk” with a fae? Fae are unreasonable on the best of days. But that is the plan. He couldn’t do anything against the fae. But the shifters? —They were another story. How did I explode Jacks’s brain? Jacks… Cameron mentally growled. Unconsciously, he scanned and found the man. Asleep. Cameron seethed. I could go shoot him. Jacks and Sabrina were together. Sleeping? How was it that Sabrina slept? Wasn’t she a vampire? But he could feel her mind, even though he couldn’t touch it. He had tried all night as they tossed around different ideas but ultimately had agreed to August’s proposal. “Know thine enemy,” as August had put it. Cameron went through his morning routine and the enticing aroma of his mother’s chilaquiles coaxed him into the dining room where he found Julia setting out fresh squeezed fruit juice and Serge and Alfonso already eating. “Good morning, mi corazón,” his mom kissed his cheek, setting a plate of deliciousness in front of him. How have I lived without Mom’s cooking for the last decade? “This looks amazing,” Cameron sat down where she had placed the plate of freshly fried tortilla chips, scrambled eggs, and homemade ranchero sauce all layered together with gooey cheese. Always best if eaten immediately, Cameron did not hesitate. “Your mother is an amazing cook,” Serge said, loud enough for his mom to hear in the kitchen. “Gracias,” she called back, a smile in her voice. “You should try her carne asada! I have suffered what California thinks is good for far too long.” “Ah, we’ve come close.” Syn joined them, setting her laptop on the table only to close it when Maria appeared with a plate for her. “Close but no comparison,” she smiled up at Maria, apologetically. “Mija, I would think you would have made it yourself. You know all my recipes.” Cameron laughed. “Oh yes, she sure does. But she’s sneaky and only cooks when she wants something from me.” “It’s called conditioning. Clean house equals guac.” Syn shot him a wicked smirk, and Cameron relaxed, reveling in home. Sure, it was some swanky apartment in New York with imminent death looming, but he tucked away this momentto savor in the future—a practice he had started a long time ago and a reminder to live in the “now.” Cameron kept his head down and held on to the good feelings as long as he could, shoveling food into his face and actively ignoring Jacks, who had sauntered into the room and sat right down, allowing his mom to serve him too. Tugged out of his focused noshing, Cameron glanced up to find the room had grown quiet. They were looking at him. “What’d I miss?” He silently kicked himself for sounding like Nathen. “We were asking if Nathen and August are all right?” Syn asked softly. “Figured you were talking to them?” He hadn’t been but decided to play it off. “Nathen’s deep in research since we did ask him to do what he could via his magic. And August is also researching using his tablet. He has all his coven’s books on there,” he explained. He mentally gave each a little nudge to see, and only Nathen responded, so he flashed images of everyone in the dining room, asking if he wanted to join. “I’ve never met her,” Blair said, “and don’t know anything about her work.” “When she first arrived, there was an announcement in our faculty newsletter. I did make a point to stop in and say hello as she’s a fellow Brit and all,” Simon said. They all fell silent, waiting for Simon to continue. When he didn’t, Ben asked the obvious, “What was she like?” Simon shrugged. “Pleasant enough woman. Human. I didn’t notice anything odd or special about her.” “And yet, she comes to Boggslake, the Secret Service sends their weirdest agent here because of the president visiting her, and a boat is rammed, capsized, and a body from said boat washes onto our beach.” Lucas scrunched his eyebrows and rubbed his chin. “Hmm. Coincidence? Or unsolved mystery?” “Now who can’t help themselves?” Forge asked. “Don’t encourage him,” Declan said to Lucas. “It wouldn’t matter. He’d do it anyway,” Blair said. Blurb Part of The Long Shadow Series by Duncan Gaye Set within the wild beauty of nineteenth-century Nova Scotia, Finding Harbor is a queer historical romance about survival, finding home, and a love that takes root slowly but with unshakable strength. Perfect for fans of Annie Proulx (Brokeback Mountain), Cat Sebastian (A Gentleman Never Keeps Score) and KJ Charles (An Unseen Attraction). Excerpt Patrick watched, fascinated by the sight. Submerged, Angus looked even more amazing. His chest rose like an island from the water, with rivulets flowing through the valleys of his muscles. His hands, spread wide to aid his floating, could have easily spanned Patrick's entire ribcage. Every proportion spoke of power held in careful check, strength tempered by conscious gentleness. As Angus had predicted, the water's temperature became pleasant after the initial shock. Patrick swam to the pool's center. His strokes were strong and careful. They reflected his childhood summers in Boston Harbor. He circled Angus once, then twice, like a small craft orbiting a ship. "Show off," Angus said, righting himself in the water. He moved with surprising speed for his size, catching Patrick around the waist before he could dart away. Patrick found himself lifted effortlessly, Angus's hands secure around his midsection. "What are you—" he began, but his question transformed into a yelp of surprise as Angus tossed him several feet through the air. He hit the water with a splash, sank briefly, then surfaced, sputtering but laughing. "Again?" Angus asked, his eyes bright with mischief. "You're a menace," Patrick said accusingly, but he swam back to Angus, nonetheless, allowing himself to be captured once more. This time, Angus hoisted him into the air with deliberate care, ensuring Patrick was prepared before launching him skyward. At the pinnacle of his leap, Patrick savored a delightful instant of weightlessness—just a taste of flying. Then, in a beautiful arc, he dove cleanly back into the water. As he emerged, he noticed Angus watching him with bright-eyed admiration. "Graceful," the giant commented. "Like a kingfisher." What began as play evolved into a pattern: Angus would throw, Patrick would fly, then dive, then return for more. Each toss sent him higher, Angus's strength precisely controlled to provide thrills without danger. Patrick laughed freely, just like he did as a child. He forgot about being self-conscious. The joy of movement, water, and trust flooded him. Breathless and excited, Patrick swam to Angus and climbed onto his broad shoulders. He wrapped his arms loosely around the giant's neck. "Onward," he commanded imperiously, pointing toward the small waterfall. Angus obliged. He swam with powerful strokes that barely seemed affected by Patrick's added weight. They traversed the pool together, Patrick riding high above the water's surface, feeling the play of muscles beneath him as Angus moved. In the tender embrace, skin met skin; Patrick's chest molded to Angus's back. This connection stirred a quieter pleasure, profound and comforting. At the waterfall, Angus stood tall, water cascading down his body. Patrick, perched confidently on his shoulder, felt like he was soaring among the towering trees. The shift in perspective was exhilarating. "You see things differently from up here," Angus said in a low voice, one hand reaching up to steady Patrick. "Is this how you always see the world?" Patrick asked, marveling at the altered perspective. "More or less," Angus confirmed. "Higher than most, lower than trees." He helped Patrick slide down from his shoulders. His hands guided Patrick through the water. Soon, they faced each other, bodies close but not touching. Droplets clung to Angus's eyelashes and beard, catching sunlight like tiny prisms. His hands remained at Patrick's waist, neither restraining nor demanding, simply connecting. Patrick placed his palms against Angus's chest, feeling the steady rhythm of his heart beneath water-cooled skin. Angus's eyes held his, patient and waiting. He inched closer, their lips poised for connection. When the kiss came, it tasted like fresh water and sunlight; unhurried and adventurous. Unlike their first kiss by the fireside, heavy with longing, this one held a different charm. It was not about urgency, but the playful bliss of certainty. Angus's arms cradled him gently, as water lapped at their shoulders. Wrapped in each other's embrace, they felt whole for a moment, completely secluded in their secret haven. Mason heard Riece’s garbled cry at almost the same time he heard an odd cracking noise reverberate through the air. Nets strung between at least a dozen trees in either direction flung up, creating a barrier. The bag dropped. Riece tried to catch it, but it knocked him backward on his ass. The tops of the nets were several feet above Mason’s head and were between Riece and him. They were cut off from each other. Riece scrambled to his feet and stood staring at the net. Then his gaze shifted to meet Mason’s. He shook his head ever so slightly. Mason clamped his fingers into tight fists for a moment to stop their shaking. Sweat trickled down his spine. Riece’s expression was closed off. He’d shut down. Mason had another reaction: he got pissed. Riece was no more than five feet from him. Alone and unprotected. Their base camp had been found. It made sense to Mason now why they’d only seen two or three of the hunters. The other bastards must’ve spent the day before getting the nets laid and covered with dirt and leaves. Another trap. This one spanned enough distance that running around would be problematic. Their positioning was planned to purposely separate them. Mason had to consider the fact they’d been stalked since leaving base camp. Mason backed up as far as possible and got a running start. He shouted, throwing himself at the net. The tricky thing about scaling nets was that they were strong enough not to snap under the weight of a man, but shifted and bent if you tried to climb them. The spacing between the nylon strands woven to create the net weren’t large enough to get a good foothold. It was more like climbing a rope. He jumped high enough to get a good start. The sounds of footsteps through the woods and hushed voices spurred him faster. They weren’t hiding the fact they were there, at least not from Mason. Riece probably wouldn’t tune into those noises until it was too late. “Riece, run!” Mason ordered. He kept his voice as low as possible, but it likely wouldn’t matter. Riece rolled to the side, grabbed the bag’s strap and at the same time, began to shove off the ground. A bolt whizzed through the air, hitting the ground inches from Riece. He stared at it wide-eyed for a few seconds before stumbling forward. Mason reached the top of the net. He grabbed the wire across the top and flung himself over. Not bothering to try to climb down, Mason hung from the top for a second before letting go and dropping to the ground. A bolt hit the tree right in front of Mason. Both shots were very near misses. Riece was a big target, Mason an even bigger target, yet neither shot hit them. He had a hard time believing these guys had such bad aim, which meant they were missing on purpose. The only reason he could come up with was that Riece and he were being driven in the direction the hunters wanted them to go. Right now Mason saw no other choice than to run in the single direction open to them. He’d think about why later. It took Mason a second after he landed to regain his balance and charge at Riece. Barely slowing down, he grabbed Riece’s arm with one hand, the bag with the other, and took his own advice and ran. Three more bolts hit the ground near their feet. The thunk of additional bolts hitting the trees reverberated in Mason’s ears. They sprinted away from the campsite, heading generally back the way they’d come. As soon as it was possible, Mason veered farther northwest. They could travel downhill first and gain ground. Eventually they’d need to go uphill, but hopefully they’d be farther away from their pursuers. At the bottom of the hill, the trees thinned out in one direction and remained constant in the other. When Mason tried running for the cover of the thicker trees, he heard a gunshot. Riece yelped and stumbled. A crossbow bolt careened by, coming far too close to Mason’s head for comfort. He slid to the ground, taking Riece with him. Mason rolled so he could see the trail behind them and took Riece by the shoulders. “Were you hit?” “I-I d-don’t know. I think so.” Riece held out one arm and turned it so they could both see. “I felt a nasty sting. Like the biggest bee ever.” A gash ran along the inside of Riece’s upper arm. It wasn’t deep or life threatening, but Mason figured it had to hurt like hell. Red oozed from the wound and trickled in a path along the muscle grooves of Riece’s arm. “C’mon.” Mason stood and yanked Riece after him. “We have to find somewhere and take care of this.” The position of Riece’s wound sent cold spikes through Mason’s chest. “I’m okay.” “You’re bleeding. The inside of your arm is wounded. That shot was meant for your torso. It was a missed shot meant to bring you down. Those people aren’t the only hunters in this area, and the four-legged kind have a far better sense of smell.” Mason led the way away from the trees. The land dipped, but not as steeply as it had at the gully. There were fewer trees for cover and more grass and shrubs. They ran along the base of the hill. Riece tugged on Mason’s arm, pointing to a darker spot along the hillside. “There,” he said. “Do you think they saw us?” My Tuesday Teaser is from Code Name Jack Rabbit, book 1 of The Vampire Guard. Forge crossed his arms over his chest. “Those weren’t accidents. They were hits.” “Hits using what?” Ori asked. “That’s the confusing part. There’s no evidence of explosives or sabotage. The boats and ships were damaged from underneath and sank. It must have happened fast and been utterly devastating because as far as we know there were very few survivors or witnesses we could locate, again with the exception of the most recent incident.” “Drowning is not the most efficient way to kill a werewolf,” Ori noted. Lucas nodded. “That’s for sure. We can withstand colder temperatures while in wolf form than either humans or vampires. I can hold my breath for a good ten minutes underwater after I change, and I think that’s about average. Someone—a werewolf—who trained as a diver, could probably hold their breath even longer. A changed werewolf is an amazingly strong and excellent swimmer. All in all, we’re pretty well suited for being in the water.” “The boat that capsized here was an accident, and other than Bronwen and Mr. Newmann, all the people onboard were werewolves,” Declan said. “I suspect they made sure Bronwen survived because they need her. Newmann wasn’t so lucky. Whether they wanted Newmann dead or not, we’ll probably never know.” “Didn’t she say those animals were predators?” Forge asked. “Maybe the intended victim was marked somehow so after they hit the water they’d be attacked?” “They would have to be. Simply dumping them in water wouldn’t do the trick. We’ll need to figure out how the targets were singled out,” Lucas said. “I feel as if I missed a whole page or two of the briefing,” Ori said. He and Kai glanced around at the others, obviously confused. “What are you talking about?” Blair glanced at his phone for a few seconds, then tapped Kai’s shoulder and motioned to the laptop. “May I? Bronwen sent me some additional information.” Kai nodded and stood up, giving Blair access to the computer. “Do you think we can get anything more from Grier?” Kai asked. Declan rubbed his hands against his thighs, then reached out and took Lucas’s arm, trying to turn him to the door. “Let’s take a walk.” Lucas jerked his arm free. “What happened?” Declan tried moving Lucas along. “We should—” “What happened?” Lucas snapped. “I’m not going anywhere until you tell me.” He turned to glare at Forge. One look from Declan told Forge to keep his mouth shut. Declan took a deep breath. “Your Uncle Jasper and Carl met us there. They said they’d handle Grier, and that was our intention as well. Except Grier got loose and both Jasper and Carl were hurt. Jasper more so.” Lucas sucked in a breath and steadied himself against a chair. “How badly?” “He’s back at the compound and doing well. He’ll be laid up for a few days, though,” Declan said quietly. “That wouldn’t have happened at all if we hadn’t kept him locked up like that,” Lucas growled. “Where’s Grier now?” “I killed him,” Forge said quietly. I’ve always been afraid of the monster inside me. Now I might have to finally unleash it. Blurb A hilarious, high-action M/M Buffy the Vampire Slayer—but all grown up, made spicier, and with a scrappy and lovable monster as the hero.
Still, that doesn't stop an arrogant fae prince from blackmailing me into stealing a magical watch from a creepy San Francisco mansion. Turns out, the artifact contains Collin, an all-knowing spirit with serious golden retriever vibes who looks like a cute twentysomething guy my age. If I can keep him from the fae, he swears we can be together—even physically—without anyone getting hurt. The wrinkle? He’s also being hunted by bloodthirsty vampires who need the watch to end the world. And my only ally? A smoking-hot monster slayer who's all "touch him and die" whenever I'm in danger but who would most certainly kill me if he ever discovered what I was. I’ve spent my whole life trying to be good—and okay, maybe dreaming of someone who could make me feel less alone. But to save Collin and stop the apocalypse, I'll have to feed. And once I taste a soul, there might be no coming back. The Reluctant Incubus kicks off the New Adult M/M urban fantasy duet Alvin Alonso's Secret Files. So... I just made out with a Monster Hunter. Blurb A totally insane choice since, you know, I'm an actual monster. And I did this right after finding out that the Hunter, Rafa, has a deep, personal connection with the vampires who are after me—vampires who've kidnapped the teen girl I'm supposed to rescue, and who need the magical watch I'm carrying to end the world. As for that watch? It imprisons Collin—a handsome spirit who can answer any question and who gets me in a way no one else ever has. Over the last 24 hours, Collin and I have done a whole lot more than just making out. The truth is, I actually think I'm falling in love with him. Which might be the craziest thing of all, since he still hasn't told me what he really is. Look, I know I've made some bad decisions lately. But now I have people I need to protect, people I care about. And since I'm feeding, for the first time in my life, I have real power. So yeah, maybe I'll never be good. But trust me—I am done running. Because it's time to show those vampires what a real monster can do. Incubus Vampire Slayer concludes the thrilling, laugh-out-loud adventure that began in The Reluctant Incubus, Book 1 of the MM urban fantasy duet Alvin Alonso's Secret Files. I recommend starting with The Reluctant Incubus so you can binge the whole story from the beginning through to Alvin's deeply satisfying HFN. Excerpt from The Reluctant Incubus BLAM! The final vampire bites the dust. I don’t even bother to look back to see if the undead creature was able to get anywhere near the badass Monster Hunter before it was cut down. Instead, I jump to my feet and run for the stairs in a blind panic. “Wait!” Mr. Terminator yells, voice deep and gruff, clearly expecting complete compliance. I am not waiting. I book it down the hallway, still gripping the shard of wood. Collin jogs alongside, having no trouble keeping up. “Alvin? What are you doing?” I ignore him and almost get to the first stair, but the Monster Hunter is so fast, he swings himself in front of me before I can even put a single foot on that OSHA disaster and grabs my shoulders, fully stopping me. He’s well over six feet. I am child-sized compared to him. “Slow down, buddy. You don’t need to run. I got ’em.” He’s less than a foot away from me, his shotgun shoved into some kind of back holster peeking out from under his duster. Without even thinking, I shove back hard against his chest with both of my palms, dropping the stake and using all my strength to try to get out of whatever his “paranormal-creature-smelling” range might be. But at this point I’m a sweaty mess, I’ve got the weak-ass muscles of a committed couch potato, and his grip is so strong, I don’t go anywhere. In response, he pulls me in tight, into a full-on hug. (Oh, my God! What’s with all the hugs, scary strangers?!) “Breathe. Breathe! You’re safe. I promise.” He squeezes me tighter. I can’t breathe. I am so going to die.
