My snippet this week is from Shifting Chaos, book 4 of
The Sleepless City. Series co-written with Anne Barwell.

Declan shook his head. “No, rejection. It’s one reason why he’s always had a dog. Unconditional love and acceptance.”

“Does that mean for the past two days a demon has been in his head making him believe he’ll be rejected by us?” Blair asked. “Why would we do that?”

“You said this demon feeds off fear. Forge has an ability to shift into something that caused him to kill innocent people. It likely took that event and twisted it in his mind to make him believe he’ll be cast out,” Simon said. “Maybe what he wrote was a warning. Banish the monster could also mean the demon.”
