My snippet today is from Jewel Cave, part of the Circles Box Set.

“Does Hatchet have caving experience?” Mason asked.

“Not that we’re aware of,” Matt said.

“Clint has some, but he prefers tunnels to verticals. I’m the hardcore vertical-drop guy,” Griff said. “This cave has a pretty small drop, fifty-five feet or less. Nothing like Sótano de Las Golondrinas cave in Mexico or the one in Alaska, El Capitan Pit.”

Mason turned and faced Griff, looking him up and down very quickly. “You’ve been in those?”

“The Alaska pit several times. Like I said, I’m more hardcore than Clint. Don’t let the suit fool you.” Griff met Mason’s gaze steadily. This man was going to help rescue Clint; Griff needed him. He also needed Mason Arquette to accept and trust him while in the caves.

“Is your suspect, Hatchet, violent or dangerous?” Mason asked.

“We’re considering him very dangerous. He did appear to take Clint from his home by force, including using a choke hold,” Liam said.
