Updated Review of Wonder Boy Owned by Calan Mercer

Update:

After my initial review I was offered an edited copy of this book. I was happy to re-read and review again and interested to see what changes were made. 

I'm sorry to report the quality of writing is not what I would expect from a professional author who states in his bio he has a master degree in creative writing and a professional editor.

There were some changes to the story that probably enhanced it. However the quality of writing after editing still remained poor. There are phrases and sentences that don't make sense. There are POV and tense changes within scenes. One set of repetitive phrases were traded for another. Character statements landed, the word 'architecture' was used to describe circumstances, characters either performed or didn't perform their actions, I could go on. There are still pages of exposition that bog down the story. It was difficult to maintain any emotional connection to the characters because I was rarely shown what they feel, I was only told how they felt. 

Had I not agreed to re-read and review this would have been a DNF for me.
