4.5 Sweet Peas from Lucky on Mrs. Condits&Friends:
LUCKY’S OPINION: I was offered the book ‘Collared Souls’ by Elizabeth Noble for review and jumped at it. The blurb seemed tailor made for my reading pleasure. I couldn’t understand heads or tails of it. I went off to find out more information, only to discover that the book was actually book four of a series. I tried to read a bit more, but just got completely lost. I turned to Mrs. Condit for help and she graciously allowed me to order the remainder of the series. This is how I got book one.
Let me start by saying that book one gave me SO much useful informationand a lot of things that I didn’t understand in book four suddenly came to make sense.
Nick is a slave. People in this world are used to it. It’s the way things are done. Collars are necessary and required in many places. Nick has been raised to be the property of Todd, a young man who needs something that Nick possesses to make his job easier.
After picking Nick up from his village and taking him home, something happens that is brief, but utterly terrifying. It’s something Todd demands not happen, but is powerless to stop. The care he shows Nick, HIS boy, gives insight to the depths of emotions that he has. See, Todd wants more than a slave. He wants a partner. A mate. While some things seem a little off (he tells Nick that he can only come when Todd allows it), there is a bond between the two of them.
The thing is that Todd won’t force Nick. He wants the younger man to choose to be with him of his own free will. He’s not above trying a little blackmail along the way (hence the no coming rule), but all he wants is Nick to be his.
This world that Ms. Noble has created is filled with creatures such as ghosts and werewolves. Todd has a job to do, and he needs Nick’s help to complete it. Todd also has a side mission that he is determined to complete. This mission leads both he and Nick into a situation that is potentially lethal for both of them.
I truly enjoyed this book and am very grateful to Mrs. Condit for getting theback issues for me. I’ll be happily reviewing all the series soon.

4.5 Sweet Peas from Lucky on Mrs. Condit & Friends:
LUCKY’S OPINION: I was grateful when I got the second book in the Sentries series. The first one introduced me to Todd and Nick, master and slave, and also Sentries, men who helped to keep others safe from the nasties of the world.
We start out on an unbelievable happening. Todd receives notice that he is to turn Nick over as eminent domain. Nick is scared out of his mind that he will be separated from his master and Todd is trying desperately to come up with an alternative.
When the time comes, Todd heads off to the meeting, only to find out that it’s not what he thought it would be. Nick is wanted, but not for the reasons stated.
A particularly nasty creature is wreaking havoc at a slave’s re-education center. It’s doing foul, unspeakable things to the people living there, and it’s doing them all while wearing someone else’s face. When Nick and Todd get there, the creature knows something is up, and finds the irony…delicious.
The creature does something to Nick that drives the poor man to the brink. Breaking one of Todd’s first rules creates a heavy heart and brings the realization that he may lose everything he’s ever wanted and the only thing he really has.
Ms. Noble has created an amazing world, filled with sexy characters caught in horrifying situations. I cannot wait to read book three!
Chained Hearts
5 Sweet Peas
LUCKY’S OPINION: This is the third book in the Sentries series and it’s strongly recommended that you read them in order so you’ll know all the players.
This story starts out at a much different pace than the first two. For the first half of the book we see Nick and Todd in a new light as Nick is still suffering from injuries he sustained in book two and Todd has come down with an illness.
They come across the town of Elk Ridge, a quiet place that Nick and Todd both fall in love with, but there is darkness that follows them wherever they go. Nick is dealing with horrific nightmares and Todd is dealing with a woman who cannot seem to understand that he and Nick are mates. When the time comes for the action to begin, we find that it’s not only creatures that are a threat to our two heroes, but that danger can lurk in even the prettiest of places and it has the means to separate Nick from Todd.
Nick is taken captive and made to do unspeakable things, while he comes to crave the reward for doing them. The thing responsible is insidious, turning Nick inside out. We also meet a young man named Adam who has his own special ability. Is he friend or foe? By the time we find out, will Nick and Todd survive? Will the being responsible tear them apart forever, or are their Chained Hearts enough to keep their bond strong?
Collared Souls
Lucky give 5 stars: This is book four in the Sentries series. These books need to be read in order because there is so much going on that you’ll need to know.We begin book four where we left off with book three. Todd and Nick are trying to escape from the soldiers in New Colorado City. Todd and Nick are Sentries, guardians that protect the general populace from all manner of beasties that most people only know as myth and legend. This time, however, they’re on the run before the government can use them as weapons in a war.
The enemy this time is much closer than the boys know. And it seems that someone has designs to use them in ensuring war.
Elizabeth Noble has created an amazing world, filled with love and passion as well as danger and intrigue. She blends it seamlessly as we see the world through the eyes of the two main characters. Some mysteries will be solved. Others will begin to blossom. Old hatreds will be tempered. And a new home will be found.
All-in-all, this is a great continuation to the epic saga of her Sentries.
