Hi, everyone, I'm Finn, brave and smart. I haven't had much time to work on my log...gosh I'm sorry. BUT I have some big news to share. I won two awards and now have 'titles'. This is me with my first title, Novice Trick Dog. The American Kennel Club put the letters TKN after my official name. Then earlier this month guess what else I did! Go on, guess...you'll never guess so I'll just tell you. I took a test and earned my Canine Good Citizen title! So now I get the letters CGC after my official name too. I'm very excited. Mommy says we're going to try entering some obedience and rally trials later this year. I'm working on even more tricks! The tricks are so much fun and soon I'll be an Intermediate Trick Dog! I've had some requests for more videos. Here are two of my recent favorites. I had to learn to "wrap" around and object, it's a can of stain. The other one is starting out "nose work", I had to sniff out treats. My mommy asks that you ignore her crappy basement.
Until next time,
Tail wags and sloppy kisses Finn Brave and Smart CGC TKN

Finn's log... Hello, it's me, Finn, back with another entry to my log. I've been doing a lot since my last entry. I have my regular duties of exercising Murphy the Cat and making sure those squirrels stay in shape. I also keeping up on watching over our street and alerting mom to any suspicious behavior. I've been keep a very close eye on all the toys in the yard across the street, as well as the children next door. Now I'm learning tricks! Tricks are a lot of fun and the best part---- TREATS! I do love my treats. Mom insists on recording our work to share. Until next time, Finn, brave and smart
Finn, brave and smart here. I've been doing so many things since my last entry. I didn't realize how long it's been! Of course, the biggest news was this was Shay's one year Gotcha Day! Shay had to stay at a shelter for a bit before mommy adopted her. That was a whole year ago. This was a special day for us. Mommy made us home-made Puppercinno bowls with Pupperoni (bacon flavor) and fortune cookie sprinkles. It's junk food, but sometimes you need to celebrate! Even Murphy got to have some. I finished my first set of obedience classes and the instructors said I did a great job. Onto the next round in a few weeks! A few days later was my check-up and shots. The doctor said I had a little bit of tartar on my teeth and needed more dental chews. Oh darn! The weather has been rainy and cold, but Shay and I still got to play one of our favorite games: hunt for lunch. Instead of eating our food from a boring bowl, we get to sniff it out of the grass! We love this game. Psst...don't tell Shay, but I'm a little better at it than she is. Until next time, Finn, brave and smart! It’s me, Finn, brave and smart! I bet you’re wondering where my name came from. Well, Finn is because my mommy likes that name, it’s Welsh like me. My mommy started telling me I’m soooo brave and soooo smart right from the first day I came to live with her. I’m very brave and I’m a good watch dog. Just last week I spent days warning off this interloper who insists on looking into our bedroom window! Sometimes it knocks on the window, but I’m very clear, it’s not allowed inside. The bravest thing I’ve done is I learned how to run up and down the stairs. I was two years old when I came to live with my mommy and didn’t know what stairs were. There were three between me and the outside and then there were the BIG stairs down to the basement. Those were very scary! Mommy had to carry me down the steps to the outside those first few days, but I learned to run up them after a few tries. It made her really happy when I’d stand at the top step and jump around, waiting for my treat. She calls it my happy corgi dance and would tell say, “Finn’s sooo brave and sooo smart.” I am smart! When I make mommy happy she pets me and gives me treats. Mommy didn’t seem to care if I went down the BIG stairs, but I wanted to see what was in the basement. I just knew there were all sorts of wonders I was missing out on. Murphy the cat eats down there, and his food smelled so yummy. Shay got to lick out the can every day. Murphy and Shay showed me now easy it was. Murphy can even jump up and turn around on the BIG stairs. Cats are show-offs. So, one day I tried the BIG stairs and it wasn’t very scary at all! It was sorta fun. My suspicions were correct, the basement was a whole new world to explore and the juice at the bottom of the cat food can is delightful! Shay and I share it every day. Now I run down and back up all the time. Mommy says I look like a big, fuzzy slinky. Until next time, Finn, brave and smart Our doggy cousin, Max, came to spend the weekend with us. At first he was a little concerned that his mommy didn’t come back right away, but then he relaxed and we had fun! Mommy had to work the next day and she came home we all sang the songs of our ancestors to welcome her home. It was amazing, and Max is so cool, he can really howl! I tried to howl just like him, but my howl is more like a rooorooo. I think Max liked it because he’d howl back. What was most fun was having another boy dog to do boy dog things with. I love Shay but there are some things she doesn’t understand ‘cause she’s a laaadeeee. Max and I did all those super cool boy dog things. We hunted sky raisins—they’re not as tasty as the name might suggest but I can’t resist. We peed on the same bushes at the same time! Boy dogs do that best. When we were finished we changed places and peed on it again! Then we chased squirrels and found some grass to eat and threw it back up. It was awesome! Of course, our job is to patrol the estate to be sure the birds and squirrels stayed clear. Max is the best when it comes to telling off squirrels. I sure hope Max comes back to visit soon. Until next time! Finn, brave and smart Recently I had a very important job to do! I was a volunteer at mom's work when a group of campers came through to learn about veterinary medicine. I wasn't sure this volunteer stuff was what I signed up for, but I ended up having a lot of fun! There was so much to do. I had to teach them how to hold me for an exam. Then they needed a special light to look in my ears. Mom said nothing was in there, not sure if I should be insulted or not! Shay's job was to wander around and let all the kids pet her while I worked. After it was all over there was a marathon belly rub event. That part was my favorite! Oh, and treats. There were treats! Both Shay and I had lots of treats. We love treats... and belly rubs. Until next time, Finn, brave and smart I love going to the park, it's soooooo much fun. There are birds, and butterflies--I chase the butterflies all over while Shay stares at me like I'm nuts. Then we both chase the squirrels. And sniff. There is lots of sniffing. When we're walking, Shay likes to slowly trot along while I run back and forth. Sometimes our doggy cousin, Max comes with us. Max is a hooowuuuowwuuuunnnd. That's how he says it too hooowuuuowwuuuunnnd. Max likes to run through the woods with his nose on the ground. Of course Max and I know the best part about the park! THE ROLL! Shay supervises. I got to roll in the woods today too. Mom says I stink. I think there might be a bath in my future.
Finn, brave and smart Today is special for Shay. It's been six months since she was adopted! To celebrate we had special treats. Pig's ears! They're awesome and I think Shay enjoyed hers a lot. I finished mine first but I was a gentleman and stood guard in case a rogue pack of werewolves broke into the house and tried to steal Shay's treat. Finn, brave and smart Finn's log... I passed! Today I went to doggy daycare and played with a bunch of other dogs. At first it was a little overwhelming but the people were really nice and the other dogs wanted to play. It didn't take me long to join in. I was really tired when I got home, so Shay and I took a nap. Shay's a really good napper. Finn, brave and smart and sorta tired. |
