 My snippet this week is from For the Long Run.  “Yes, you should have,” Eric said, tone slightly stern. When Jay looked up at him Eric knew he had Jay’s rapt attention. “But we have a body to see about. So, we’ll discuss that minor infraction later with dinner.” “They, the police, keep wanting me to see what they’re calling the dump site. So far, I’ve managed to evade them. I wouldn’t know what I was supposed to be looking at anyway.” “Never evade cops. It only makes us try harder. This is what you have me for now. Give me directions and I’ll go talk cop with them and see the body and the site.” “No, I have to go with you. They’ve asked, and you don’t have an ID badge for the resort yet. The detective in charge is an okay lady, but she’s a real prick to anyone she thinks is snooping around and shouldn’t be.” Eric shrugged and slipped off the desk. “That’s how it should be.” He crossed the office and opened the door, waiting for Jay before going through and down the hallway, heading to the building’s exit.
