Rainbow Snippets 7/16/2023

This week's snippet is from Electric Candle, book 2 of The Sleepless City. (Series written with Anne Barwell).

Blair watched as Forge patted himself down, eventually pulled out his wallet, and handed over a credit card. He realized Ben was watching him watch Forge. Twisting in the booth, he quickly looked down at the table.
Ben reached across the table and slapped Blair’s forearm. “Told you. Forge might be big and can seem sort of scary, but he’s really nothing but a teddy bear.”

“Yeah, one with huge, sharp fangs,” Blair grumbled.

Ben laughed. He looked up when Forge rejoined them. Jealousy stabbed at Blair’s gut, and he had no idea why. Ben seemed completely smitten with Simon, and Blair was sure Forge had ladies lined up for blocks wanting a date with him, if he hadn’t already settled in with one. Seeing Forge’s physical reaction around Blair gave him the second thought that maybe ladies weren’t what interested Forge. He hated that he wasn’t concentrating as he normally could. Yet he couldn’t shake how he felt seeing Forge with Ben. They seemed to have such a nice, easy, relaxed friendship.
