Kai nodded and quietly closed the chest. “Iron shackles and chains, coated with silver.”
“A vampire, or a werewolf, wouldn’t be able to escape and if they were cut and the silver got into their systems—”
“Yes,” Kai cut him off.
“You’re not a Nazi.”
Kai smiled softly. “But you knew that before we came in here. No, I’m not. I’m here to find out what’s going on in the camp we’re headed to, Buchenwald near Weimar. Vampires and werewolves are being taken there, under force.”
“No easy task,” Ori rubbed his palms over his thighs. “Even for a goose stepper.”
“No. And something is being done to them.”
“Do you know what?” Ori stilled and watched Kai. His answer was a shake of Kai’s head. Ori drew a deep breath. “I’m here to stop this train. Maybe I can’t save everyone, but I can save these people.”
“Bonding right now isn’t advisable,” Kai said.
Ori grinned and stepped forward. “But it’s unavoidable.” He grabbed Kai’s face and kissed him then turned to leave. He caught a glimpse of the surprised, bewildered expression Kai wore and how he used two fingers to caress his lips for a few seconds.
“You just…” Kai mumbled.
