And this time, it’s personal. “Seriously, we all worked on a case back then and didn’t know it?” Blair exclaimed. “I was a real ass to my dad at the time, and he still handed me a project to modify that device for you to use to catch the electric faeries.” He looked down and picked at some invisible flaw in the tabletop. “It changed things between us for the better. I never knew what he was working on before then. He started giving me little projects to do for him, and that’s when I quit screwing around and started working hard in college.” Forge reached over and rubbed his shoulders. “Your father talked about you a lot. He was proud of you.” “Thanks,” Blair said softly. Forge discreetly put one hand under the table and took Blair’s, threading their fingers together. Blair smiled at him and squeezed his hand. The simple gesture immediately made Blair feel better. He’d finally gotten to the point where hearing about his father from someone else’s perspective didn’t cause pain, but comfort. “My painting was a classic,” Declan grumbled. “Your painting gave me nightmares,” Forge grouched. “I’d forgotten about the Forge and Coate thing. It was all we heard at the station for the first few years. Most everyone liked Lucas right away. He was so ambitious about every case.” Lucas sighed dramatically. “It was Coate and Forge.” Read more snippets in the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. It is odd to hear about a parent from someone else. Kind of makes you wonder sometimes if they're talking about the same person you knew.
